My DiskTuna defrag to do list

My DiskTuna to do list will give some idea of there I’m going with DiskTuna …

  • Check code if DiskTuna differentiates between a system and a data drive. And if it then decides based on that how large the reserved area at the start of the disk needs to be.
  • Add code to determine if volume is on an SSD disk
  • Expand S.M.A.R.T. routine currently used to determine disk temperature to do generic SMART test to see if disk is physically OK. DiskTuna already checks if Windows thinks the disk is OK.
  • Optimize currently always clears the reserved area. This is very time consuming. I want to optimize that and:
  • Introduce a maintenance mode which maintains the reserved area at the start of the disk without starting from scratch.
  • I get a lot of comments on the UI. To tiny. I like it, but ok. As I like to be able to view results every now and then, working on the UI gives me something to look at every now and then, see results to keep me motivated.
  • Idea I’m toying with, also based on DiskTuna feedback, is a zone for large files more towards then end of the disk. Think ideas like this may come from MyDefrag users which Jeroen Kessels unfortunately no longer maintains.
  • As VSS appears to be active by default in Windows 10 I am considering VSS safe mode being the default in DiskTuna.
  • Considering adding a extra context menu option for folders: Group all files within the folder on the hard disk.
  • Add simple disk cleanup option; clear recycle bin, temp files etc..
